Molecular Phylogenetics and Taxonomy of the Subgenus Pika (ochotona, Lagomorpha)
A phylogenetic analysis based on partial sequences of 2 mitochondrial genes (cytochrome b and cytochrome c oxidase subunit I) confirmed that Ochotona alpina (Pallas, 1773) and O. turuchanensis Naumov, 1934, are sister taxa to all other Palearctic species of the subgenus Pika. O. hyperborea (Pallas, 1811) contains sufficient genetic heterogeneity to define 2 or 3 races within this species. Exami...
متن کاملOntogeny of the Cotyledonary Region of Chamaesyce maculata (Euphorbiaceae)
Development of the cotyledonary region in Chamaesyce maculata is described from germination of the seed through formation of the dense mat of branches which characterize this common weed. The cotyledonary node is trilacunar with split-lateral traces. Epicotyl development is limited to a pair ofleaves ("V-leaves") inserted directly above and decussate to the cotyledons. The two V-leaves are also...
متن کاملIsolation and characterization of microsatellite loci for Euphorbia palustris (Euphorbiaceae).
Swamp spurge (Euphorbia palustris, Euphorbiaceae) is a large perennial species of wet grassland and swamps. Its natural habitats are fragmented and isolated both naturally and owing to habitat destruction by human activity. Thus the species is endangered and legally protected in Germany. This report describes seven novel polymorphic microsatellite loci that will be helpful to characterize genet...
متن کاملA Revision of the Euphorbia Dioscoreoides Complex (Euphorbiaceae)
A revision of the Euphorbia dioscoreoides complex (subgenus Agaloma) is provided. Euphorbia dioscoreoides ssp. attenuata and E. eglandulosa, both from Mexico, are proposed as new; E. digitata is reduced to synonymy under E. subpeltata. Representative specimens are cited, and distributional and ecological data are provided.
متن کاملSpirowallichiione: a rearranged multiflorane from Euphorbia wallichii Hook F. (Euphorbiaceae).
Euphorbia wallichii of the family Euphorbiaceae yielded a new rearranged pentacyclic triterpene of the multiflorane class which we have named spirowallichiione. The structure of this natural spirocompound was elucidated with the aid of modern spectroscopic techniques, including 2D-NMR.
